Slurry is pumped to fill the chambers at a low feed pressure to build the cake. Then membrane plates are inflated by high pressure water pump to squeeze the cake formed into the chambers which results into high solid contents in the cake and more recovery of the liquids.

Membrane plate look like conventional plate but it has a diaphragm which flexes and compress the cake formed inside the chamber.
